Well Child Visits
EPSDT Program
The
EPSDT Program is a preventive health care program designed to
improve the overall health of children. EPSDT stands for Early
and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis,
and Treatment. It is a service that is available to
every Pima Health System child under age 21. The EPSDT program has
two parts:
- screening or
well-child check-ups, and
- treatment.
EPSDT/Well
ChildCare includes:
- physical exam
- developmental
assessment
- nutritional
assessment
- laboratory
tests including blood lead level
- immunizations
- vision/hearing/speech
screening
- dental care
- anticipatory
guidance provided by the PCP during each EPSDT visit
- medically
necessary transportation
- organ and
tissue transplantation
- case management
services
- behavioral
health services, and
- health
education.
Even
children who are well should have EPSDT check-ups. At a minimum, a
check-up must be done at:
2-4
Days, 1 Months, 2 Months, 4 Months, 6 Months, 9 Months, 12
Months, 15 Months, 18 Months, 24 Months, 3 Years, 4 Years, 5
Years, 6 Years, 8 Years, 10-13 Years, 14-17 Years, and 18-20
Years.
Children
may visit their Primary Care Provider at times other than the age
ranges listed above. Children are encouraged to see their PCP when
needed. Pima
Health System does not limit the number of PCP visits children may
receive.
