Cultural Diversity
PHS works hard to
improve the quality of life for our members. We understand that
our members come from different backgrounds and we are
sensitive to their cultural differences. We know that our members
speak different languages and have different customs and beliefs.
We want you to receive health services from us and our providers
in a way that respects your culture. We know how important it is
that we understand each other.
One way PHS is
meeting some of our members needs is by providing you with this
handbook and all of our other member materials in English and
Spanish. PHS can also help you if you need an interpreter. We can
make arrangements for a Sign Language interpreter to go with you
to your medical appointments. If you need an interpreter in
another language, our telephone interpretation service can help
when you communicate with PHS staff. To request any of our
materials in another language or in another format call the Member
Services Department at (520) 243-8060 or 1-800-423-3801 in Tucson
or 1 888 438-8700 in Nogales and make your request. Oral
interpretation services are available to you at no cost. Your
provider may also assist you with interpretation needs when you
obtain services.
